BUILDING A STRATEGY
While the asbestos consulting and removal sectors remain relatively small economically, no one
can undertake a project in pre-2000 constructed properties without considering asbestos. Our
approach recognises this, ensuring asbestos is controlled and does not increase the risk to building
occupiers or those maintaining buildings.
Asbestos Information CIC has been reviewing survey data and producing a model for a national
asbestos database. This model has involved analysing data from nearly 400,000 properties
containing almost 3 million asbestos items and over 7 million lines of data. The Asbestos
Information CIC is due to publish the findings of this extensive data analysis in an upcoming report.
Asbestos Information CIC outlines five necessary steps to build a national database and explains
how these will contribute to an asbestos strategy.
